I nostri strumenti sono sottoposti all’esame di enti terzi accreditati per la loro certificazione di equivalenza secondo metodi ufficiali di riferimento.

Sino-Italian PM 2.5 Monitoring Capability Construction Project for Beijing Municipal Environmental Monitoring Centre

Fai Instruments company has been involved in the project born in the framework of an implementing arrangement signed by Italian Ministry of Environment and Beijing Environmental Protection Board
The major goal of the agreement is to develop the capacity for air quality monitoring and pollution control for fine particles (PM2.5), which is known to be a critical issue for Beijing and its environment.
A second important target was identified in the fostering of commercial cooperation among Italian and Chinese enterprises and institutions.

Compliance of Fai Instruments ambient air monitoring system to new EN 16450 Standard

We are proud to announce that our Swam 5a product lines (Swam 5a Single Channel-Swam 5a Dual Channel and Swam 5a Dual Channel Hourly Mode) are in compliance with the requirements on automated measuring system for PM according to the Standard EN 16450: 2017.
The related test report has been positively assessed by German relevant body and new confirmation of product conformity (QAL1) is available. EN 16450

High Spatial Resolution Samplers performance evaluation

A study has been conducted by the Institute of Atmospheric Pollution of the National Research Council of Italy to evaluate the performances of the HSRS sampler

This study was aimed to evaluate:
1. the repeatability of the measurements of PM and of some of its chemical components when the sampling is carried out by the HSRS sampler;
2. for the same species, the difference in the concentration calculated when sampling with the HSRS sampler in comparison with instruments operating at the flow rate of 2.3 m3 h-1, certified according to the European legislation;
3. the existence and extent of possible artefacts when the sampling is carried out by the HSRS sampler.

Results:

The repeatability of the samplings carried out by the low-cost samplers was about 5%.
The comparison with the reference sampler was very good for stable, fine components (e.g.: sulphate, potassium, levoglucosan, elements) and satisfactory for stable coarse components (e.g.: sodium, magnesium, calcium).

Spatially resolved data, obtained by monthly sampling in parallel , allowed to assess the spatial variability of PMx and elemental mass concentrations.

The obtained results proved the efficiency of the innovative and low-cost experimental procedures for the evaluation of the spatial variability of PMx and its main chemical components through the acquisition of spatially resolved data.

Smart sampler CNR Evaluation

Environmental modeling and source apportionment

The study of the spatial distribution of atmospheric PM and of its components is essential for a reliable identification of emission sources, the evaluation of particle dispersion over the territory and the assessment of personal exposure.
However, the very high cost of a network based on traditional PM samplers generally prevents the achievement of these goals.
A low-cost, self-powered and automatic device for PM sampling on membrane filters has been recently become available distributed by Fai Instruments S.r.l.
The sampler constitutes promising possibility to build low-cost networks for atmospheric PM .
The innovative High Spatial Resolution Samplers, allowed to build an extended and extensive monitoring network, with low associated costs, which was able to represent the different emission source contributes to total PMx in the monitored area.
From the acquisition of spatially resolved data, it was possible to properly evaluate the dispersion capacity of PMx and its elemental components, identifying the source tracers of each PMx local emission source which will be used for future source apportionment studies.
This experimental approach, based on the acquisition of spatially resolved data for analyzing spatial variability of PMx and its chemical components, will be effective for the validation of dispersion models without the high costs associated to an air quality monitoring network.
